F for Fluffy
I start this with the popular saying …A dog chooses his own master and our case was nothing different.
It was an early March ,evening family time and the excitement in the topic of conversation was palpable. It definitely washed away all the anxieties that are synonymous to this month. Financial year end business achievement pressures, appraisal time, final examination preparation for the daughter and the list can definitely go on…
Over our evening cuppa there was this exciting narration by the Father – Daughter duo about a cotton ball little pup who they have been meeting every morning. This Puppy was adopted in the household of Rohit and family who stayed in the same building as ours. Starting this day, the puppy was an integral part of our discussions every single day.
Two weeks pass by and I decide to accompany my daughter to her School Bus. On our way she introduces me to this bundle of Joy, the cotton ball little Puppy, during his morning play time. I say a Hi, pat him and we proceed to the school bus. On my way back …. I stop by to spend some more time with the little Puppy and also chat up with the Master. He was absolutely adorable. We had our eye contact, I lifted him and there he was all over me. He was twice the size of my palm and I immediately felt that connect. Just holding him was so calming.
While I was totally occupied into my silent communication with the puppy, Rohit started a conversation with me. My interest was only on the puppy ,when suddenly I stopped cuddling him, as Rohit’s last sentence grabbed my attention. “So, we are planning to return him to the Kennel in Pune”.
Silence followed and then almost mindlessly I said …” Rohit, can you please delay your decision by couple of days?” I had no clue why I said that but deep within I had this feeling, that we cannot let him go back. I came back home, sat with my cuppa thinking and analyzing the pros and cons of getting him home. Honestly there were too many challenges at that moment …. But I decided to have a discussion with my husband once he gets back from his office tour.
Two weeks from then, to our daughter’s surprise, Fluffy was home with us. Not a premeditated move, but this was just meant to be and now he unquestionably is an essential part of our family.
The healing and therapeutic outcome of having Fluffy with us will definitely be following ……………
